Launch

The official date of the launch of the beta has been pushed back to March 3, 2006. This is primarily due to the fact that a crucial piece of load-balancing equipment has not yet been delivered. And although there is very little that we could reasonably do to prevent issues associated with Slashdot, Digg, and Red Herring related traffic - we have to at least try. In any case, today is server day here at the world headquarters of Podcast Ready, Inc.

More Feedback

Just in case anyone on the team is having doubts:

"Russell is involved with a really kick-ass piece of software which could quite literally revolutionized podcatching as we know it." - Evo Terra, co-host of Slice of SciFi, the Dragon Page, the man behind Podiobooks, and much much more.

See guys, its not just me!

Informal Review

From Michael McGuff of ABC 13 here in Houston:

FYI...I love mypodder.  I have been using it with just the PC and winamp and it has been a nice way to listen to stuff.

Beta 3.6 Available

myPodder Beta v3.6 is now available for download. However, if you are downloading myPodder for the very first time, you should consider this to me a limited preview. Once the web services come on-line later this week, domain names are going to change and all current betas will cease to function.

If you have already followed the registration steps listed above, you should be able to find the link for version 3.6 here.

Not to worry though – the moment this happens there will be a new version available.

First Mac Port

The first attempt to port the code for myPodder for use on Macs is available for download. MacpodderThere are some very obvious issues with fonts, etc. but still we need any and all feedback that you can provide. You can download the Mac version from the announcements section of the forums and report your feedback in the newly created ‘macPodder’ area.

Before you apply the Mac version, make sure that you download and install the latest PC version as these libraries and history files are requried. Details on the latest beta can be found here.

To install: simply unpack the file inside your existing ‘myPodder’ folder on your device or hard drive. To use on a Mac, execute the ‘macPodder’ file that resides within the ‘myPodder’ folder. This will not replace your current PC version, and will in fact use the same data files allowing you to receive your podcasts on either platform.

New Beta Build Available

The third, and possibly last, build of the myPodder client is now available. You can find the download link in the Announcements section of the snowbugs forum.

With this version, the user data that is stored on the device is encrypted, which means that if you are currently using a version of myPodder, none of your subscription information and download history is compatible. So make sure that you backup (export to OPML) your subscription list first.

You will need to delete the "mypodder" folder on your device before installing this new revision. Once installed, you can then import your subscription (OPML) list and resume enjoying your podcasts. If you have any questions about this process, please let us know.

And as always, your comments and feedback are welcomed!
